Alec would argue that there is plenty of reason, in fact, the primary of which is his attraction to Magnus. He's keeping an eye on the watch just as much as Magnus is though, which is why each kiss they share is kept soft, sweet and brief.

"You exist," he murmurs simply in between kisses, letting his words linger against Magnus' lips. "You're here, in my life. Just keep doing that."
